TDVA delegation team went to USA yesterday, November 29, 2007, to take part in the special fund raising program to be held in North America. The team comprises the G/Manager Ato Alem G/Meskel (Wodi Ala) and two higher officials of the administrative board Hon. Asmelash W/Slasie (Abay Nebso) and Hon. Atsbeha Aregawi. All the delegation team representatives are war disabled veterans with multiple disability and contributes a lot being founding members of the association and specially the board members are still serving TDVA on voluntary bases with due responsibility.

Ato Alem held a press conference with local Medias and VOA Tigrigna service from TDVA head office on November 22, 2007 briefing about the mission of the delegation team’s tour to North America.  

The slogan of the mission says  
“  “            depicting the symbolic deeds of war disabled veterans which is a reflection of the solidarity and relentless efforts of the whole community.

The program is scheduled to be held in seven states in USA and CANADA. He also urges in his statement to all Ethiopians in the Diaspora to join the togetherness forum in our new millennium.

TDVA Administrative Board conducted its 1st extra ordinary meeting inlinewith article 34 sub article 1(b) of its statue on Sunday October 19, 2007 in its head quarter, Mekelle.

The board thoroughly discussed on the institutional reform program that has been facilitated with the help of a consulting team and on the upcoming tour to North America. It passed a resolution in making the agenda under discussion instrumental to realize TDVA’s vision. The board in its issued statement call upon all Persons with disabilities, volunteer supporters and its partners to strengthen their collaboration in scoring a remarkable stride and join their hands in the fight against poverty in the new Ethiopian millennium.

The statement underlines the need to mainstream disability issues in all development programs and call upon all concerned parties to work towards the practicability and give their support to enable PWDs exercise their rights aforementioned in the national and international legal instruments with due focus in their area of concern.

TDVA is finalizing its preparations to launch a special fundrasing program in North America. The events are expected to be held inselected states will stay live for about six months. According to the deligation team leader, the events are belived to be unique for it will be used as an expression of soldarity in the new Ethiopian Millinum and solicit support in the fight against the abject poverty with a special focus on the well being of PWD’s and their family.

In the events various civic and professional associations, interested individuals and firms, religious institiutions, USA based NGO’s and foundations and other concerned parties are also expected to take part. The organizaing committee and the deligation team here by calls upon relentless support of all the people and institutions from where they are.
