Boston: We thank our Tigrean compatriots...

Tigrean Community in Boston celebrated the 35th TPLF anniversary and they use the gathering as an opportunity to promote TDVA and its efforts. According to the organizing committee, they have raised a total sum of 2,236.00 USD and wired to TDVA account.

The participants expressed their due support and call up on other Diaspora community to be on TDVA’s side. Similarly TDVA Washington DC – Chapter has solicited and deposited 2,228.00 of the pledged amount last year.

TDVA held its General Assembly meeting..

TDVA held its 6th General Assembly (GA) meeting on January 16 and 17, 2010 G.C. in Mekelle town. More than 300 representative member veterans, invited guests, TDVA volunteer supporters and partners from different part of the country and from overseas took part on the two days general assembly.

The general assembly is unique for it has passed key strategic decisions concerning: -
  • The fate of TDVA and the re-registration process according to the newly legislated charities and civil societies law.

  • Discuss on the strategic adjustments and measures carried out to sustain its institutional capacity.

  • And the usual tasks of electing new admin. board members, Audit Committee discuss and approve performance and audit reports and other important issues.

The Guest of Honor His Excellency Ato Kiros Bitew, Head of the regional capacity building bureau; delivered his commendable speech on behalf of the regional president, him self and the regional government. In his speech he disclosed the regional government’s support to TDVA in all its efforts and hopes to repeat the heroic deeds will flourish in fighting poverty. He also extend his appreciation to the disabled veterans self reliant effort and need to be taken as a lesson for the young generation.

His Excellency Hon. Mulugeta Alemseged, Social Affairs Advisor to the prime minister of FDRE also made a tundum tone reminding the history of the struggle. Ato Mulugeta continue his speech extending his heart felt gratitude to the sacrifies of the people and hope to see in using the sprit of “Tegadelay” in making another stride in the fight against distress, poverty and under development. He also underlines the need to form dynamic partnership with the newly established association of Ex-combatants in various areas.

Other invited guests of TDVA supporters Mrs. Kathryn Robinson, from Rainbow4Children foundation; Mr. Bob Ranson from ECDD, Eng. Begziabher Alebel, Ultimate architects and consulting p.l.c, Ato Sisay Desta, Afrotsion construction plc and other volunteers and supporters expressed their support in their speech  GA and renew their commitment to be on TDVA’s side.

Making an introduction speech; his Excellency Hon. Asmelash W/Selassie, Board Chair Person extends his thanks to the Regional Government, EFFORT, Rainbow4Children, ECDD, the Tigrean Community in North America and Middle East countries, TDVA volunteer supporters and the general public. Ato Asmelash officially opens the 6th General Assembly (GA) shortly expressing the key tasks made and forth coming issues that need further attention. The general assembly held for two consecutive days on the above mentioned agendas and has passed the following resolutions.

Finally, a field visits was held to the Orthothic prosthetic center, TDVA head office building which is under construction, and other project areas too (see pictures of the event)
