Establishment

TDVA / Tigray Disabled Veterans Association/ was established in the after math of the two decades of civil war, in May 28-31, 1996. Its aim is to rehabilitate and integrate hundreds of thousands of war disabled veterans and their family members to become a strong development partner in redressing the war devastated socio-economic situation of the community.

TDVA is membership based non-for-profit, non-governmental, humanitarian organization legally registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia under registration number 86. TDVA is also a signatory member of NGO's code of conduct in Ethiopia and an associate member of Christian Relief and Development Association (CRDA), which is an umbrella organization for NGO's.

TDVA operates in all areas of Tigray Federal Administration Region. This region is one of the fourteen in Ethiopia and is located in the Northern most part of the country. It has a common boundary in the North with Eriteria, West with Sudan, East and South with Afar region and Southwest with Amhara region.


Having recognized the regional and social needs of the different groups within the society, TDVA has developed and executed comprehensive programs in an integrated setting for community based development initiatives in the  Tigray region  as a way to address certain difficulties.
